May the Best Workout Gear Win!

^Live view of Hayley, Cameron, Anna, and I running to buy all of the new fitness apparel that magically pops up on our Instagram feeds.

These days, I feel like I’m being bombarded with trendy apparel to exercise in, lounge in, and (let’s be real) live day-to-day life in. Just to name a few, the first that come to mind are Athleta, Lululemon, Outdoor Voices, Girlfriend Collective, Alo Yoga, and Fabletics.

Is one really better than the rest? Is it worth going broke to try every brand out there?

Here are the qualifications to determine the best workout gear for you:

  1. Why do you need workout gear? Do you need a new pair of leggings for your oversized sweatshirts? (Ain’t that the truth…) Or are you running a marathon? (You go girl!) The objective of your purchase matters. I have found that Athleta and Lululemon offer well-labeled apparel based on the type of activity I plan to do. Additionally, every time I have walked into a Lululemon, I am always greeted by friendly, knowledgable salespeople. There is something to be said about great customer service!
  2. Is price an important factor for you? If you are looking for an inexpensive pair of leggings, Fabletics has you covered. However, if you are looking to splurge, check out Alo Yoga and some of the other brands on the Bandier website. The quality of the fabric tends to increase with high prices. Plus, these leggings will last you for years.
  3. What do sustainability and ethics mean to you? The fashion industry is known for being one of the most polluting industries in the world, emitting carbon dioxide emissions and infiltrating freshwater reserves to name just a couple issues. If you buy a piece of apparel from Girlfriend Collective and wear it down, you can actually return your apparel to them. Not only will you receive $$ for your next purchase with them, but they take the fabric from your used clothing and turn it into new fabric for future Girlfriends pieces. S/O to the entrepreneurs who are slowing down our rate of consumption and use of materials! Also, Outdoor Voices is known for using #realwomen in their advertisements. Seeing their posts on social media makes me feel like they reallycare about the confidence of their customers. Women supporting women! #doingthings

What workout apparel do you own? Which of these brands are you itching to try?! Comment below!

Until next time,
